Each year the members of the Tenandeho Canoe Association help plan out the annual Tenandeho White Water Derby. We're looking for new members who'd like to join our group.
Each year before the race, our members perform a variety of tasks that help make the race possible. This includes:
- Creek cleanup - Typically the 3 Saturdays before the race. Depending on conditions we may work from boats or the shoreline to clear trees, brush and other debris that could be a hazard to boaters during the race.
- Race organization - There are a variety of things happening in the few weeks before the race. Contacting our sponsors, soliciting donations to our raffle, contacting property owners, coordinating with rescue crews.
- Race day help - There are a variety of tasks on race day including setting up signs, and timing racers
In addition to the annual Derby, members of the group occasionally meet up for paddling excursions during the summer months. In the past we've met to paddle on the Sacandaga River, Schroon River, Battenkill River and others.
